New Faculty Position in Human Evolutionary Genomics
NEW FACULTY POSITION IN HUMAN EVOLUTIONARY GENOMICS. The George Washington University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in Human Evolutionary Genomics in the Department of Anthropology, to begin Fall 2014. We seek candidates that complement the current strengths of the faculty in the Center for the Advanced Study of Hominid Paleobiology. The successful candidate will have an outstanding research program focusing on human genomics or genetics from an evolutionary perspective, and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Rank is commensurate with experience.
Basic qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology, Genomics, Genetics, or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but must complete all requirements for the Ph.D. by August 1, 2014. Applicants must have an active research program focusing on human genomics or genetics from an evolutionary perspective that can involve students, a strong publication record, and a commitment to excellence in teaching as demonstrated by teaching experience, evaluations and letters of reference.
Preferred qualifications: Post-doctoral experience is preferred. The candidate’s research need not focus exclusively on humans, but should be relevant to understanding how evolution shaped the human condition, and may include theoretical and analytical or lab-based research approaches. We seek candidates with exceptional promise as scholars, who are expected to have or to develop externally funded research programs.
